FURY Competitive Select Soccer Details
The Blount County Youth Soccer Competitive program is for the committed youth soccer player looking for a higher level soccer experience. The program creates a challenging environment that promotes player development through professional training, coaching, competitive matches, and a developmentally appropriate curriculum.
The Competitive Program is current for the U9 through U12 age levels for both boys and girls. The players in the Competitive Program typically begin their youth soccer experience in the Blount County Youth Soccer (Recreational) program that starts at five years old. Once a BCYS player is 7 or 8 years old (U9), the choice may be made whether to continue playing Recreational soccer or join the Blount County Youth Soccer Competitive Program.
To play at a competitive level, it requires a commitment from both the players and the parents. All players are required to attend three soccer practices per week and depending on the level of play, team and coach, the player might be required to attend extra practices each week.
To be a part of the competitive program, every player goes through an annual tryout process usually in the month of May for the following season. Players are selected onto teams based on their appropriate skill level and in some instances are dual rostered onto teams within their appropriate age groups to accommodate the growth of development. Our goal is to provide an opportunity for any child that is willing to be a part of this program. We may have numerous teams in an age group to help further every player’s development. Should a player arrive in mid-season every effort will be made to evaluate that player and roster them on the appropriate team. Acceptance to the competitive program is subject to space and availability.
All the coaching/training in the Competitive Program is conducted under the direction of the BCYS professional Technical Staff. The BCYS Competitive teams may participate in Central Alabama Soccer League, Alabama Soccer Association State League (Premier, 2nd or 3rd Division) based on the team’s age and level of play.
